Great news! A new boys and girls club is coming soon to the city of Coeur d’Alene. It will be located in the former teacher parking lot of Lakes Magnet Middle School. The address is 930 N. 15th St.
After the Hagadone’s visited the location of the Post Falls location, they knew that they were going to help. The Post Falls location sees about 225 kids daily and cost 1.7 million to build. In May, the Hagadones met with the Boys and Girls Club board to inform the club they would donate $1 million in cash and as much as $1 million more as a challenge for the community to match. As of Wednesday evening, the club’s supporters and benefactors had contributed $3,650,000 to cover 100 percent of construction costs, fixtures and necessities as well as an entire year’s operating expenses. (Heilman). One of the ways that money was raised was via an auction that was held on September 11, 2015.
It is amazing that the entire project is slated to take exactly one year until the doors are open. The facility will also have a secondary bonus to the school district. It will be able to use the building as a second gymnasium for the middle school.
The center is expected to see 400 students on a daily basis, with its massive size of 20,000 square feet, it will be able to hold many more in the future. The name of the club has been decided. It will be called the Lola and Duane Hagadone Boys and Girls Club. The projected opening date is scheduled September 2016.
