Republican Party in Coeur d’Alene
First, I see that Ted Cruz is going to be stopping by Coeur d’Alene on March 7th. A location has not been secured, but it looks like it might be Greyhound Park in Post Falls. They can agree that the time is 10:00 am.
Apparently the tickets will be available on Eventbrite.com when the event and location has been fully secured. It is currently not listed on the Eventbrite website.
Coincidentally, this is one day before the Republican Primary for Idaho which is March 8th. The process is designed to narrow down the candidates before the main election. There were 17 hopefuls registered at the beginning of this event.
There are different kinds of primaries. The open primary is where any registered voter can go in and vote for any candidate of any party. A closed primary is where only those that are registered as a party member may vote.
In this case, it is closed. Only Republicans may vote and decide which of the GOP’s might be moving forward.
On a side note, there was a billboard on Seltice Way between Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene. It was advertising the date of the Republican Primary. I thought it was fine, but apparently the Democratic Party was upset about it and threatened to sue. The billboard had the Republican Party and the date and that apparently was offensive.
I have added website information for elections below, as well as a link to find out where you vote via address. There is also a link on the first website to the absentee vote. Remember that you always need a photo ID to vote.
