Visible vs. Verizon Cell Phone Plans
Verizon is one of the three major wireless carriers operating within the U.S., and Visible runs on its network. Verizon owns Visible, and while the two have the same towers and a similar amount of coverage, there are distinctions between them. First, they offer different cell phone plans. One of Visible’s two cell phone plans, the Visible Unlimited plan, ties for No. 1 in our Best Unlimited Cell Phone Plans of 2023 rating and Best Family Cell Phone Plans of 2023 rating while placing in multiple other categories.
Verizon offers many cell phone plans, and in our Best Cell Phone Plans of 2023 rating, Verizon’s 5 GB Shared Plan and Do More Unlimited Plan tie for No. 6, Verizon’s Play More plan comes in at No. 8, and Verizon’s Start Unlimited places at No. 10. The plans all place in the Best Family Cell Phone Plans of 2023 rating as well.
Visibile vs. Verizon
Visible currently offers two unlimited plans, Visible and Visible+, starting at $30/mo. and $45/mo., respectively. Visible also offers regular introductory promotions as well as discounts for referring a friend to enroll in a plan. Visible is owned by Verizon and runs on Verizon’s 5G and 4G LTE networks, which means that you’ll be deprioritized during periods of network congestion. Overall, however, shoppers looking for unlimited data at a price that is lower than other cell phone plans may lean toward Visible’s Unlimited Plan.
Verizon has a wide selection of cell phone plans available for customers and has customized family plans, making it possible for groups to select different plans that suit their individual needs. This could be beneficial for families that want to add grandparents to a line or add a plan for kids that will help parents track their child’s location and limit their content viewing. There are even plans for connected devices for customers who want streaming services or data usage from anywhere. For shoppers who want included streaming services or cloud storage, Verizon may hold a higher appeal.
Its basic plans come with fewer features than Visible’s Unlimited plan. However, Verizon has five unlimited plans, and it prioritizes its customers when the network is congested. That means subscribers won’t need to anticipate slower speeds during congested times. All of this comes at a higher price, though.
Visible has two unlimited plans, Visible and Visible+. Both include unlimited data, unlimited talking, and unlimited texting, as well as calls to Canada and Mexico and hotspot usage. Visible+ adds a little extra with select international calling and roaming data in Canada and Mexico. One downside for heavy data users is that Visible’s customers will be deprioritized when the network is congested, as Verizon will take bandwidth for its own customers first.
Verizon has an unlimited plan called Get More Unlimited, but it is more than twice as expensive as Visible and charges $100 a month. Its setup is postpaid, and the plan includes unlimited access to its 5G Ultra-Wideband and 5G nationwide, which may be important to individuals concerned about top performance and no lag when connecting. Its data threshold is 50 GB per month and it has a mobile hotspot with a threshold of 50 GB, making it a solid pick for those who need ongoing access to high-speed data. It also includes a host of add-ons such as Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for as long as you have the plan, along with Apple Music, Apple Arcade or Google Pass, 50% off a device data plan, one TravelPass day per month, and 600 GB of Verizon Cloud Storage.
Visible’s cheapest plan is the Unlimited Plan, starting at $30 per month for a single line. It includes unlimited data, talk, and text, as well as hotspot access. Visible’s newer unlimited plan, Visible+, offers very similar features for $45 per month, adding only international talk and text in select countries and 5G Ultra Wideband.
Verizon’s cheapest plan is the Verizon Basic Phone 500 MB plan. It costs $30 per month, postpaid. It has just 500 MB of data per month, making it an option for users who use very little data. It also comes with unlimited talking and text time. This simple plan could be paired with other plans from Verizon to create a family or group plan. Before choosing a plan with just 500 MB of data, it may be worthwhile to see how much data you typically use in a month to determine whether a basic plan would be a good fit.
Visible vs. Verizon: Coverage Area
Visible and Verizon operate on the same network, and Verizon’s network covers 99% of the population in the U.S. Verizon has higher speeds and prioritization for its customers, though they will pay much higher prices for being part of one of the three major carriers within the country. Visible customers will enjoy extensive coverage but may be deprioritized when the network is congested. To see if there’s coverage in your area, check the maps at the Verizon and Visible websites.
You can bring your own phone to Visible’s Unlimited Plan if it is eligible, or you can purchase a phone from Visible. Compared to other unlimited phone plans, Visible is relatively inexpensive and offers regular discounts, including its “Bring a Friend” promotion. If your friend signs up with your referral code, both you and them will get $20 off one month of service. Though Visible offers great perks when it comes to unlimited data, talk time, and texting, you may be deprioritized during times when the network is full.
With its five unlimited data plans, along with plans for devices and limited data, Verizon provides strong options so shoppers can choose an arrangement that best suits their data needs, hotspot usage, and other preferences for entertainment and cloud storage. It scores lower than Visible in our ratings, however, and its plans tend to be among the highest-priced in the industry. Its lowest-priced unlimited data plan, the Start Unlimited Plan, costs $80 per month for one line, which is nearly double Visible’s Unlimited Plan that starts at $25 for the first month and continues at $40 per month for one line. That said, for those who want a long list of perks, the chance to customize a family plan with something for everyone, and access to a top-tier network, Verizon may be a great choice.
The Bottom Line
The Visible Unlimited Plan tends to best serve customers who seek simplicity, unlimited data, and a low price. However, if you want more data usage options like a plan for just your devices, the chance to customize group plans or monitor your child’s cell phone usage, and additional perks like entertainment, Verizon may be a better choice. As a main carrier, some of Verizon’s plans are priced high, but they do come with high-speed data and strong network performance.
