Book Review Tuesday: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I listened to this book on the Libby App. (Spoilers ahead)

I had seen the series on HBO, so I was able to follow along really well.

This is a story of woman growing up in a privileged area. The majority of the women do not work, so they all stay home and participate in gossip.

As the story unfolds, they delve into these perfect lives and you start to see the cracks. (Sounds like Days of our Lives). One is being abused, one is being cheated on with the nanny, one has her ex husband and his new perfect wife move into town, and one is a single mother that was a result of an abusive one night stand.

Some of the aggressive mothers come up with a petition to have a 5 year old boy removed by the school for bullying. This is the son of the newer resident of the town who is the single mother. She asks her son if he did it, and he would always say that he does not want to talk about it. However, he is friends with the girl that states she is being bullied by him. Was it really him?

As you see everyone’s lives intertwine, you start to see the secrets coming out.

However someone dies. Who is it? Why? Will they be punished? Will they cover for the person? Will the person turn themselves in?

I really enjoyed this book and looked forward in seeing how much it would compare to the show on HBO. I felt that it paralleled it quite well.

I have given this 4.5 stars
