This came up as a suggestion for me based on other bodies of work from the author that I have read.
I understand that this is her first book, and I have to say that she is impressive right out of the gate. This story kept my interest the entire time which is hard to do. (Spoilers Ahead)
It is the story about a young woman who goes to get a pizza and meets the love of her life while there. They get married and are still in the newlywed stage when tragedy strikes.
This is a story of a woman that will need to prove herself to her mother in law that she has never met and convince her that they were married. The MIL is not a kind woman, but she is grieving and it should be a given that there will be some questions. One of the being…”Why have I never heard of You?”.
Elsie is the main character and this story becomes a beautiful story running parallels to the other story line of Elsie and Ben. The secondary story that ends up becoming the primary story is the story of Elsie and Susan (MIL). Will they make amends?
